Brendan Collins
Brendan joined the firm in 1981 and has been a partner since 1986. He is a member of the Institute of Credit Management. Brendan specialises in commercial property and recovery including sales and purchases, leasing and dispute resolution.
He has acted for major commercial and residential lenders since 1987 and has a wealth of experience in all aspects of security creation, enforcement and recovery. He has advised national newspaper clients in media law for over twenty five years.
Away from the office Brendan spends time with his family and enjoys music and walking.

Fiona Johnston
Fiona qualified as a solicitor in 1984 and joined Mellicks in 1993, becoming a partner in 2002. She undertakes all aspects of residential conveyancing and has a wealth of experience in that field.
She also undertakes all aspects of commercial conveyancing and leasing. The creation of bespoke securities for many of the lender clients of the firm is of particular interest to Fiona.
She also carries out the preparation of Powers of Attorney, wills and all aspects of executry work.
When not in the office, Fiona enjoys spending time with her family and going on holiday! She is a member of the Rock Choir and enjoys taking part in their performances throughout Scotland.

Kenneth Lang
Kenneth has been with Mellicks since 1989 and has been a partner since 1997.
He heads up our media law team and he also deals with all aspects of civil litigation, corporate and personal insolvency. He is a solicitor in the Supreme Courts.
Kenneth is the firm’s principal advocate and as such regularly appears for clients in Courts throughout the country.
Kenneth is married with three children. In his spare time he enjoys sport, particularly football, attending Easter Road stadium when time allows.

Sophie Cargill
Sophie graduated from the University of Glasgow in June 2010 with an LLB Honours Degree and completed the Diploma in Legal Practice the following year. During her undergraduate Degree, she spent a semester studying abroad at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
Sophie joined Mellicks as a trainee in October 2011, having previously spent University vacations working in the firm as a summer intern. She was trained exclusively in civil litigation and qualified as a solicitor and notary public in October 2013. Since qualifying, she has continued to work in the firm’s civil litigation department.
Sophie regularly appears in Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland and she also has experience in the
Court of Session and the High Court. Sophie has experience in a broad range of civil litigation matters, particularly commercial litigation and debt recovery.
Moreover, she is also part of the
firm’s media law team and provides pre-publication advice to the firm’s media clients. She has advised on post-publication issues of contempt and defamation.
