Bernadette Baxter


Bernadette Baxter has been a solicitor for over 25 years.  She specialises in civil litigation with a particular interest in housing and family law. 

She is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Family Law and Child Law.  She served on the Glasgow Sheriff Court Family Law Team from its inception and is a Past- President of the Glasgow Bar Association.

Bernadette is a former convenor of the Professional Competence Course for trainee solicitors run by the Glasgow Bar Association and is a senior tutor in Family Law in the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow.

She is a Bar Reporter appointed by the Sheriffs in Glasgow in actions involving disputes over residence and contact with children.

Fiona Johnston


Fiona qualified as a solicitor in 1984 and joined Mellicks in 1993, becoming a partner in 2002. 

She undertakes all aspects of residential conveyancing and has a wealth of experience in that field.

She also undertakes all aspects of commercial conveyancing and leasing. The creation of bespoke securities for many of the lender clients of the firm is of particular interest to Fiona.

She also carries out the preparation of Powers of Attorney, wills and all aspects of executry work. 

When not in the office, Fiona enjoys spending time with her family and going on holiday! She is a member of the Rock Choir and enjoys taking part in their performances throughout Scotland.

Steven Kane


Steven Kane has been a solicitor for over 25 years. He was a partner at Naftalin, Duncan and Co from 1997 before becoming a partner of Mellicks in 2016 when the two firms completed a merger. 

He has considerable experience in advising Housing Associations and has been involved in many substantial transactions involving stock/estate transfers.

He specialises in conveyancing including both domestic and commercial.  He is expert in the provision of advice in the Private Client field, particularly in relation to Wills, Powers of Attorney and executry work and was previously a tutor on the Private Client  course in the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow.

In his spare time, Steven enjoys playing golf and watching football.

Kenneth Lang


Kenneth has been with Mellicks since 1989 and has been a partner since 1997. 

He heads up our media law team and he also deals with all aspects of civil litigation, corporate and personal insolvency. He is a solicitor in the Supreme Courts. 

Kenneth is the firm’s principal advocate and as such regularly appears for clients in Courts throughout the country. 

Kenneth is married with three children. In his spare time he enjoys sport, particularly football, attending Easter Road stadium when time allows.

Pauline Maclean


Pauline Maclean has been a solicitor for in excess of 25 years.

 She specialises in residential conveyancing and has in-depth experience in dealing with house purchase and sales.

She is very popular with clients for her friendly but efficient way of working.

Sophie Cargill


Sophie is an associate in the firm. 

She graduated from the University of Glasgow in June 2010 with an LLB Honours Degree and completed the Diploma in Legal Practice the following year. 

During her undergraduate Degree, she spent a semester studying abroad at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.

Sophie joined Mellicks as a trainee in October 2011, having previously spent University vacations working in the firm as a summer intern. She was trained exclusively in civil litigation and qualified as a solicitor and notary public in October 2013. Since qualifying, she has continued to work in the firm’s civil litigation department. 

She became an associate on 1st September 2016

Sophie regularly appears in Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland and she also has experience in the
Court of Session and the High Court. Sophie has experience in a broad range of civil litigation matters, particularly commercial litigation and debt recovery. 

Moreover, she is also part of the
firm’s media law team and provides pre-publication advice to the firm’s media clients. She has advised on post-publication issues of contempt and defamation.

Eidann Campbell


Eidann qualified as a solicitor and  notary public in July 2017.

Eidann graduated from the University of Glasgow with an LLB Honours Degree in 2014. She completed the Diploma in Professional  Legal Practice the following year and commenced her traineeship with Naftalin, Duncan and Co. in 2015, having worked in the office since 2009.

She has a background in civil litigation and has appeared in Sheriff Courts across Scotland. She also carries out Private Client work and deals with the firm’s Guardianship applications.

Eidann now specialises in residential  and commercial conveyancing, dealing with many of the firm’s lender clients on a day to day basis.
